The Cubs took two of three from the Reds in Chicago, April 13-15. But Cincinnati went 7-3 at home against the Cubs last season.

Chicago led Pittsburgh 4-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning of Thursday's game, but ending up losing 5-4. The defeat dropped the Cubs to 4-4 in one-run games this season; those eight contests are tied for the most in the majors.

The Reds had been a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen base attempts this season until Billy Hamilton was thrown out attempting to steal second base in the sixth inning of Thursday's loss to the Brewers.  Cincinnati was successful on just 70.1 percent of their SB attempts in 2014, which ranked 20th in the majors.

Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 in Thursday's loss to the Pirates, extending his current hitting streak to six games. He is batting .444 (12/27) with seven RBI during this streak, raising his season batting average from .286 (through games of April 17) to its current .355 mark.

Jake Arrieta has held Cincinnati batters to a .179 (17/95) opponent batting average in his four career starts against the Reds. Entering this weekend, this ranked sixth lowest among all active pitchers with a minimum of 100 batters faced versus the Reds.

Mike Leake was the hard luck losing pitcher in the Reds' April 19 loss to St. Louis, as he allowed just two runs in eight innings of work. He is now winless (0-3, 4.19 ERA) in his last six starts dating back to last September 14. That is one shy of tying his career-long streak of consecutive winless starts (7),, which he has done twice, April 10-May 16, 2012 and April 21-May 25, 2014 (streak not broken by any relief appearances).
