Texas went 10-9 against the Mariners in 2014, including 5-4 at Seattle. It was the seventh straight year that the Rangers won the season series.

It has been the bottom third of opponent's lineups that has given the Rangers' pitchers the most trouble so far in 2015. Opposing No. 7- No. 9 batters are hitting .345 (39/113) with 20 RBI against Texas, compared to .243 (62/255) with 29 RBI for the No. 1-No. 6 hitters in the lineup.

The Mariners' batters have not been able to get on base via a base on balls very much in 2015; they are averaging 18.44 PA per BB, which is second worst in the AL (CWS -- 21.08).

Nelson Cruz has hit at least one home run in each of his last five games (he had no homers in his first four games of this season). Yovani Gallardo's victory over the Astros on April 11 broke his streak of eight consecutive starts without a win. This will be his first career appearance against the Mariners.

Felix Hernandez is winless (0-5, 5.18 ERA) in his last eight starts against the Rangers, his last victory in this series coming back on July 14, 2012. Hernandez's 21 career losses versus Texas are the most by any active pitcher against any single opponent.
