(SportsNetwork.com) - Anibal Sanchez takes another shot at his first win of the season on Tuesday when the Detroit Tigers open a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians at Comerica Park.

After walking three in four innings of his season debut, Sanchez pitched better his next time out in Los Angeles, as he held the Dodgers to three runs (1 earned) and six hits in five innings to lower his ERA to 3.00.

Sanchez could nail down his first win on Tuesday, as he owns a 4-1 lifetime mark against the Indians with a 2.20 ERA in seven starts.

Detroit returns home after a 2-3 road trip that culminated with the Tigers losing two of three in San Diego, including a 5-1 setback in Sunday's rubber match at Petco Park.

Reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (0-1) left the game after five full frames having surrendered four runs on as many hits and three walks despite fanning a season-high 10 batters.

"Leadoff walks kill you," Scherzer said "That was the difference in the game. I have to attack the zone early in the count."

Victor Martinez drove in the lone run for the Tigers, who have lost four of six.

Now the Tigers will try to get going against Cleveland righty Zach McAllister, who is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA. McAllister was brilliant against the Padres on Wednesday, as he scattered five hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings. He also fanned seven in the win.

McAllister has struggled against the Tigers, going 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA in six starts.

Cleveland enters this series having lost four of five after a heartbreaking finish on Sunday that saw Chicago's Alexi Ramirez give the White Sox a 4-3 win thanks to a two-run ninth-inning walk-off home run.

"We should have had that win," Cleveland reliever John Axford said. "(Corey) Kluber pitched an amazing game, especially for the rest that he took midway through (because of the rain). Bullpen guys coming in, doing their job and then guys coming through in the ninth once again. We keep scoring runs like that in the ninth, we should win those games. Obviously, I just didn't do my job today."

Detroit was 15-4 versus the Indians last season.

In celebration of Jackie Robinson Day, players from both teams will all wear No. 42.
