Report: Pavano ruptures spleen shoveling snow

According to multiple reports, free-agent pitcher Carl Pavano ruptured his spleen after falling while shoveling the driveway of his Vermont home.

Pavano, who spent his past four major league seasons as a member of the Minnesota Twins, missed a large chunk of last year when a bone bruise on his humerus caused right shoulder soreness.

The New York Mets and the Colorado Rockies were two teams rumoured to have interest in Pavano, who is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

In 14 major league seasons, Pavano is 108-107 with a 4.39 ERA and a 1.340 WHIP.
