Report: Cubs interested in Dan Haren

The Chicago Cubs have interest in acquiring Los Angeles Angels pitcher Dan Haren, according to Jon Heyman.

The Angels have been exploring potential trades for the right-hander this week. He is due to make $15.5 million if his option is exercised, with a $3.5 buyout. On Wednesday, the club sent pitcher Ervin Santana to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a minor-league pitcher. The deadline for the option to be exercised is Friday.

Last season, Haren went 12-13 with a 4.33 ERA. He would be a welcomed addition to a Cubs starting staff that compiled a 4.52 ERA last season.
