Orioles acquire Joe Saunders

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired pitcher Joe Saunders, as well as cash considerations from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitcher Matt Lindstrom and a player to be named later.

Saunders is currently playing in his ninth MLB season, and will add a veteran presence on the mound for the Orioles, who are competing for a playoff spot.

The 2002 first-round draft pick has posted a 6-10 record so far this season, with a 4.22 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP in 130 innings pitched.

In 36.1 innings pitched as a reliever, Matt Lindstrom has posted 30 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.72. Lindstrom was a tenth-round pick in the 2002 draft.
