Alvarez leaves game with "elbow soreness"

BOSTON (AP) Toronto starter Henderson Alvarez left Monday night's game against Boston in the sixth inning for what the team said was a ``precaution with right elbow soreness.'' Alvarez will undergo an MRI on Tuesday according to manager John Farrell.

The Jays have already lost starting pitchers Brandon Morrow, Kyle Drabek & Drew Hutchison to injuries this season.

Alvarez threw three pitches to the leadoff hitter, Adrian Gonzalez, before the trainer and manager John Farrell came to the mound. He walked off a few minutes later with the trainer and was replaced by right-hander Jason Frasor.

It was the second time the trainer and Farrell had gone to the mound. They came out with one out in the third inning.

The Blue Jays were leading 7-5.
