Giants-Mets postponed by rain, doubleheader Monday
NEW YORK (AP) The game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets has been postponed because of rain and rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader Monday beginning at 4:10 p.m.
With rain already falling and the forecast calling for showers all day, the game was called about 90 minutes before the scheduled start Sunday.
Giants ace Tim Lincecum, slated to pitch Sunday, will now start the opener Monday, with Madison Bumgarner going in the nightcap.
Miguel Batista will make a spot start in the first game for the Mets, Dillon Gee, the scheduled starter Sunday, will get the ball in Game 2.
New York pushed back Johan Santana from Monday to Tuesday against Miami in order to stay in rotation the rest of the week.
