Bautista clarified to reporters how the injury felt after the Yankees swept the Blue Jays in Tuesday's doubleheader:
"The problem is not that it is a bone bruise, it's just the spot that it's in. Every time I land my leg, it's in a spot where it kind of hurts every single time. Just taking off or slamming on the brakes creates enough pain for me not to be performing up to 60, 70 percent of what I can go at. So I don't think I'm doing this team any favors by being out there and not being ready to play."
Bautista will undergo treatment and be re-evaluated in two weeks. He is not expecting to be shut down for the rest of the season.
