The Columbus Crew announced Wednesday the club has acquired Egyptian defender Amro Tarek on a season-long loan from Real Betis.

Tarek, 23, joins the Crew having recently made a move to La Liga with Betis. The once-capped Egyptian Under-20 left full-back will remain with the Crew for the duration of the 2016 MLS season.

"Amro is a young player, but he brings a lot of experience at the professional level," Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter said in a statement. "He has displayed a good developmental path over the course of his career by virtue of playing at several quality clubs. We believe he is going to help bring depth and talent to our backline."
