Report: Newcastle closes in on loan deal for Atletico Madrid's Siqueira

Newcastle United is close to adding to its defensive unit as the club edges closer to a loan deal with Atletico Madrid for full-back Guilherme Siqueira.

Sky Sports reports the Brazilian national will join Newcastle on loan until the end of the season after losing his place in Atletico's first team.

Siqueira has been reduced to a role on the bench as Atletico manager Diego Simeone prefers to deploy Filipe Luis at left-back.

The 29-year-old's possible arrival could pose a threat for Paul Dummet, who has become a fixture in Steve McClaren's squad since Massadio Haidara went down with a knee injury.
