Real Madrid has come to terms with the possibility of losing Cristiano Ronaldo, and has its sights set on yet another Tottenham superstar.

With uncertainty surrounding Ronaldo's career at the club beyond this season, and the Spanish side's desire to usher in a new era of players, Los Blancos are "monitoring" a future move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to Sam Wallace of The Telegraph.

Wallace notes that a move for the 22-year-old won't occur during the January transfer window, but that Kane fits the mould of the type of player Madrid hopes to acquire.

Tottenham has a well-known history of completing blockbuster deals with the Spanish outfit, following the big-money transfers that saw Luka Modric and Gareth Bale move from White Hart Lane to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Although Kane may not fetch as much in return as the reported £85-million sale of Bale in 2013, a study from Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory estimates the young forward could cost Madrid as much as £68  million.

Meanwhile, reports suggest the 30-year-old Ronaldo may be allowed to leave at season's end, as Madrid attempts to put a greater emphasis on a team-oriented collection of players rather than continuing to reply so heavily on a superstar.
