Manchester United misfit Victor Valdes has had enough of being frozen out by manager Louis van Gaal, and is close to cancelling his contract at the club, according Peter O'Rourke of ESPN FC.

The Spanish goalkeeper joined United in January on an 18-month deal, but has not been handed a squad number this season and is forced to train away from the first team due to a fallout with van Gaal.

The relationship between the Dutch gaffer and Valdes, which goes as far back as the former handing the latter his senior breakthrough at Barcelona in 2002, soured when the shot-stopper allegedly refused to represent the Red Devils' under-21 side.

Numerous clubs are reported to be interested in Valdes, with Newcastle United among those previously linked due to the loss of first-choice Tim Krul to a ruptured ACL.

There is expected to be competition from his homeland, however, with the 33-year-old World Cup winner apparently turning the heads of La Liga outfits Espanyol and Valencia.
