Barcelona centre-back Javier Mascherano left Saturday's El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu after suffering an apparent groin injury from a tackle by Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez in the 11th minute.

The Argentine international left the pitch momentarily before playing out the following ten minutes of the first half in noticeable discomfort.

Mascherano conceded moments later, signalling to the bench for a change before being substituted for Jeremy Mathieu in the 27th minute.
