Jose Luis Gaya not leaving for Real Madrid, says Valencia president
Hands off, Real Madrid. Jose Luis Gaya isn't going anywhere.
That's the message from Valencia president Amadeo Salvo, who says the impressive 19-year-old will remain with the club for the foreseeable future despite interest from some of the world's most prestigious sides.
Gaya, who has made 28 appearances in La Liga this season despite his tender age, is contracted to Los Che until 2018, though Salvo insists the club will look to extend his deal in an effort to ward off potential suitors - or at least ensure that when he's sold, Valencia is able to swim in a pool full of the cash they secure from the deal.
"Gaya will renew with Valencia, he's not joining Madrid," Salvo told reporters Friday. "You can quote me on that in your respective newspapers."
So take that, moneybags Madrid (translation: wait a little while, offer us an exorbitant fee, and we'll figure all of this out).
