Diego Simeone extends contract with Atletico Madrid until 2020

One of the worst-kept secrets in La Liga is finally out of the bag.

Atletico Madrid announced Tuesday that manager Diego Simeone has put pen to paper on a contract extension that will keep him at the Vicente Calderon until 2020.

The fiery Argentine bench boss has led his club to unprecedented success since arriving in 2011, helping Atletico win a Europa League crown (2012), Copa del Rey (2013) and La Liga title (2014).

The 44-year-old also came within seconds of leading his side to Champions League glory last season before ultimately losing out to city rivals Real Madrid in the final.

While the news doesn't come as much of a surprise - Simeone's sister, who is also his agent, said last week that good news was on the horizon in regards to a contract announcement - it is still a massive deal for a club who are as much a product of their manager as any in the world.
