VIDEO: Missed opportunities plague Real Madrid during scoreless 1st half

It wasn't for a lack of opportunities, but Real Madrid found themselves in a surprising scoreless draw at halftime against Elche on Sunday.

Real Madrid's three-headed attacking monster had opportunities to break the deadlock, but a combination of solid goalkeeping, poor finishing and offside calls denied Los Blancos.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the unluckiest as two of his efforts left him looking to the heavens for an answer.

The first occurred after a brilliant first touch to fool the Elche defender and create space for a shot, but his curling effort smacked off the far post.

His second miss was one of the more embarrassing attempts for the Portuguese superstar as he completely muffed a golden opportunity in front of goal when he miss-kicked the ball with the outside of his right foot. 

While Ronaldo had the ugliest miss of the match, Karim Benzema delivered the best miss of the year when his bicycle kick goal was disallowed thanks to the linesman's ruling that he was offside.
