Cristiano Ronaldo did not have one of his most memorable matches on Saturday.

Real Madrid came away with a 2-1 victory over Cordoba - courtesy of a late penalty from Gareth Bale - but the Portuguese superstar made almost no contribution to his team picking up the three points.

In fact, he did more harm than good.

Ronaldo was shown a straight red card in the 82nd minute for striking an opponent inside the Cordoba penalty area - which is why Bale, and not Ronaldo, was the one to step up to the spot in the 89th minute.

The fact that he was on the pitch at that juncture was a surprise to begin with, as Ronaldo escaped the referee's wrath after a similar incident earlier in the contest:

Maybe the break-up is really bothering him?
