VIDEO: Ronaldo shown straight red card vs. Cordoba
Cristiano Ronaldo did not have one of his most memorable matches on Saturday.
Real Madrid came away with a 2-1 victory over Cordoba - courtesy of a late penalty from Gareth Bale - but the Portuguese superstar made almost no contribution to his team picking up the three points.
In fact, he did more harm than good.
Ronaldo was shown a straight red card in the 82nd minute for striking an opponent inside the Cordoba penalty area - which is why Bale, and not Ronaldo, was the one to step up to the spot in the 89th minute.
It happened pretty quickly, so here's a better look at the offense that saw La Liga's top scorer go for an early shower:
The fact that he was on the pitch at that juncture was a surprise to begin with, as Ronaldo escaped the referee's wrath after a similar incident earlier in the contest:
