Hamstring injury rules Thomas Vermaelen out of Champions League match vs. APOEL
Reuters
Stop us if you've heard this before: Thomas Vermaelen is injured.
Barcelona revealed Sunday that the Belgian defender will not be travelling with the club for Tuesday's Champions League match against APOEL, as a hamstring injury will keep him out of the squad.
The club did not disclose the severity of the ailment, though any time the former Arsenal man suffers a new injury, there's always the possibility that he could miss a significant amount of time.
Barcelona reportedly paid £15 million for Vermaelen's services this summer; a staggering number when you consider that he has yet to play an official match for the club due to injury.
