Luis Enrique: 'If Cristiano is Jordan, Messi is Wilt Chamberlain'
Always one for awesome analogies, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique provided an excellent answer upon being asked to compare Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo following his side's 0-0 draw against Málaga.
"If Cristiano is Jordan, Messi is Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points in one NBA game," Enrique said. "I'm sticking with Leo."
Of course, if we're translating points in basketball to goals in football, Enrique's analogy is slightly off as Ronaldo has notched 10 goals in Real Madrid's first five La Liga fixtures this season, while Messi has registered a "measly" (by comparison) five in six appearances. Either way though, both players have started their campaign exactly as we all expected.
Earlier this month, Enrique claimed that Messi "does things you can't even see in (animation series) Captain Tsubasa or on PlayStation."
