Neymar suffers sprained ankle, could miss La Liga opener vs. Elche
Neymar's season debut with Barcelona is in doubt after the Brazilian striker suffered a Grade 1 sprain in his left ankle during a training session Thursday, the club announced.
There is currently no timetable for his return to training as the team's medical staff assess how the 22-year-old responds to treatment.
Barcelona, however, indicated an appearance during Sunday's La Liga opener against Elche isn't inconceivable.
It’s worth recalling that, last Monday, Neymar Jr. received his medical discharge from the back injury that he suffered during the World Cup in Brazil, and was able to take part in the Joan Gamper Trophy match on the same day.
Neymar managed to net two goals in his first game back during Monday's match against Mexican club León after being sidelined with a fractured vertebra suffered at the World Cup
