Mesut Ozil shone during the first few months with Arsenal after transferring from Real Madrid last summer, but the honeymoon appeared to end after he experienced a dip in form half-way through the season.

It took time, but Arsenal fans eventually reached their breaking point. They struggled to hide their frustrations but the poor performances continued and fans expressed their disappointment with the  £42.5 million signing late in the season before an injury forced him out for a month.

Fans of the German national team have undoubtedly watched the 25-year-old struggle to familiarize himself with the English game. They've witnessed the perceived struggles carry over to the national side and seem to have lost patience with Ozil.

Sections of fans were heard booing Ozil during Germany's tune-up game against Cameroon, but the German feels the fans' expectations are out of date when considering how his style has evolved over the years.

"I feel that I have the trust of Joachim Low and Arsene Wenger and that I have earned it,"  Ozil told Sport Bild, via FOX Sports.

"I am now 25 years old and at that age every footballer in the world plays in a different way to what he did when he was 21.

"And, of course, my role at Arsenal is different in so much that I have more responsibility than I did at Real [Madrid]. And I like that."
