Zaza scores his 1st goal in 294 days
Don't refresh your phones; this isn't a mistake - Simone Zaza has actually scored a goal again, to Valencia's benefit.
The Italian striker was on the receiving end of some nifty movement and found himself clean through on goal Sunday against Athletic Bilbao. Still, Zaza managed to make a bit of a meal of his shot, crumpling to the floor but finding fortune at long, long last.
It's his first competitive goal since May 1, 2016, when Zaza scored against lowly Carpi for Juventus. Since then, he's endured a loan stint at West Ham that ended in fruitless failure and found himself shipped off on loan inexplicably to Spain's quickly collapsing club as Paco Alcacer's heir apparent.
Here's hoping Zaza nets at least one more goal before the end of the 2017 calendar year.
