Abelardo Fernandez, known as Pitu, and known for carrying Real Sporting de Gijon in his heart, is done at El Molinon.

On Tuesday, following a meeting held by Real Sporting's board of directors, Abelardo and the Asturian club parted ways by mutual agreement, bringing an end to his second spell as the team's manager.

Real Sporting published a statement thanking Abelardo for everything he gave to the club. "Real Sporting wishes to expressly thank the involvement, effort, and professionalism of 'Pitu' Abelardo at the helm of the team," it read, "as well as his willingness to sign the agreement of disassociation from this entity, which will always be his home."

Abelardo, whose second stint as the club's manager kicked off in 2014, will bid farewell Wednesday morning.

Real Sporting sits in La Liga's relegation zone with a miserable 12 points from 18 fixtures.
