This is exactly how Sevilla's supporters dreamt it.

On Sunday, in the 85th minute of the La Liga fixture between Sevilla and Real Madrid, the Andalusian club was aided by one of its former players. After Pablo Sarabia curled in a dangerous free-kick, Sergio Ramos was forced to make a play on the ball and headed it into his own net, sending those in attendance at Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan into rapture.

The own goal was perfect for Sevilla's supporters given the fallout between Ramos and the club, and paved the way for the Andalusian club's 2-1 victory, bringing an end to Real Madrid's unbeaten run of 40 games, which stood as a Spanish record.

According to Marca, Ramos' name was jeered prior to kickoff to the tune of 100 decibels, which is the equivalent of hearing a jet taking off a few hundred metres away.

Three days ago, in the second leg of a Copa del Rey tie between Sevilla and Real Madrid, sections of supporters targeted Ramos, who left the Andalusian club 12 years ago and alleged his mother was insulted during the draw that saw Los Blancos advanced to the quarter-finals 6-3 on aggregate.

"(Ivan) Rakitic and (Dani) Alves) are received like gods," Ramos said after the match, according to Marca's Pablo Polo. "For me, they remember and insult my mother."
