Even Cristiano Ronaldo isn't safe from the Chinese Super League's money-driven reaches.

In conversation with Sky Sports Italia, Jorge Mendes, the super agent who counts Ronaldo among his esteemed clientele, revealed an unnamed club from the Chinese Super League made a push to sign the player that enters uncharted territory.

"From China, they've offered €300 million to Real Madrid and more than 100 million per year to the player," Mendes said, according to Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas. "But money is not everything. Real Madrid is his life. Cristiano is happy at Real Madrid and it is impossible to go to China. The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo.

"Cristiano is the best player in the world and best ever. It is normal to have some offers. He won the European Championship with Portugal, it's like winning the Italian league with Genoa: they were not the favourite."

Mendes' revelation came on the same day Carlos Tevez joined the Chinese Super League's Shanghai Shenhua from Boca Juniors, reportedly becoming the world's highest-earning footballer with a salary of £615,000 (approximately €715,000) per week. As for the Argentinian forward's transfer fee, ITV Football values it at £71.6 million (approximately €83 million).
