Valencia captain Perez slams team for conceding 'childlike' goals

Argentine international Enzo Perez admitted Valencia is digging itself a deep hole, following the club's 1-1 draw with bottom of the league Granada on Sunday.

Valencia currently sits in 15th place in La Liga, having picked up only 11 points in 12 matches. Although its form has improved since losing the first four league games in a row, Perez believes his side has now hit "rock bottom."

"We give away childlike goals that you should never concede in La Liga," Perez told Marca, as reported by ESPN's Adriana Garcia.

"We are not playing like we do in training and like this, it becomes very difficult," he said. "We have hit rock bottom in every sense."

Instead of blaming his manager or bad luck, Perez admitted the players are at fault for Los Che's dismal run of late.

"We need a cool head and to try to improve from our mistakes," he said. "If anyone has to pull the team out of this situation it is us, the players."

Even though Valencia failed to beat the bottom placed team in its last outing, Perez said the squad is only looking onward and up, instead of worrying about the drop zone.

"A point is of little comfort because in order to climb up in the standings, you need to win games. We need to be stronger when playing at home and we aren't achieving this."

Valencia faces a stern test away to Sevilla in its next match on Saturday.
