Ronaldo: If I were Real Madrid's president, I'd give me 10 more years

If Cristiano Ronaldo has his way, he'll be staying at Real Madrid until he's 40.

The iconic attacker said as much following a 5-2 win over Osasuna, pledging his future to the Spanish outfit, should the club wish to keep him on for the next decade.

Ronaldo's current contract with the club ends in June 2018, and he and agent Jorge Mendes have planned talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss an extension. However, the 31-year-old says if it were up to him, Perez would wrap up those talks quickly with a lengthy new deal.

"I don't know, you would have to talk with the president," Ronaldo said when asked about the status of his potential contract extension, according to ESPN FC. "Things are going well. The media have written it already, you know more than me. If I were the Madrid president, I would give me 10 more years."

"I don't see anything else in my career (except Madrid). That is what I want most. This is the biggest club in the world, so it should have the best players."

Ronaldo is currently in his eighth season with Real Madrid, and took only six minutes to find the back of the net in his season debut, after returning from a knee injury he sustained at the Euro 2016 final.

The Portugal captain isn't looking for any more rest, though. He wants to fight for silverware with Real Madrid.

"I felt good physically," Ronaldo said. "I could have played the 90 minutes without problems. But in some actions I went in a bit scared, although that is normal having not played for such a long time. I have picked up match fitness, felt good, scored a goal; all was perfect."

"We want to win all the trophies, but La Liga we have not won for four years now, and we want it. I see the team ready to do that. I'm confident we can do it.
