Barcelona has bolstered its already-loaded attacking ranks, announcing the signing of striker Paco Alcacer from Valencia.

The Catalan club will pay €30 million for the Spaniard's services, and another €2 million in potential add-ons. Alcacer, 23, signs a five-year deal with the Blaugrana, who have inserted an enormous €100-million buyout clause in his contract.

The striker, a product of Valencia's youth system, made 146 appearances for Los Che, scoring 43 goals. Excited about the opportunity to make the move to the hallowed Camp Nou, Alcacer was understandably gracious when discussing his now former club.

"When I found out about the offer from FC Barcelona I asked the club to listen to it, as it was my decision to take a step forward in my career," he said.

"I want to thank Valencia CF and the fans. Despite the fact that I am leaving Valencia CF, I will always be a Valencianista at heart."

The move comes after a somewhat protracted summer search by Luis Enrique to find a suitable backup striker for incumbent star Luis Suarez, as the likes of Kevin Gameiro and Luciano Vietto were both heavily linked with Barca.

Instead, it's Alcacer who becomes the club's sixth signing of the window, joining goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, defenders Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne, and midfielders Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.

In a concurrent deal, the two sides - boasting a long history of transfer agreements between one another - announced that young Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi is moving to the Mestalla on a season-long loan.
