Espanyol has apparently rejected several bids from Tottenham Hotspur for its goalkeeper Pau Lopez.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino worked with the 21-year-old in the suburbs of Barcelona before leaving the club in 2012, and is making efforts to reunite with Pau in north London, according to Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas.
The pursuit is not linked to Hugo Lloris recent hamstring injury which sees Michel Vorm currently taking duties between the sticks, as Thomas understands the Spurs have been tracking the youngster's progress for some time.
Pau missed just two matches of Espanyol's 13th-placed finish in La Liga last season and has represented Spain at the under-21 level. Should Pochettino tempt him to Tottenham, he would presumably vault above academy graduates Luke McGee and Tom Glover in the shot-stopping pecking order.
Spurs are next in action on Saturday when Liverpool visits White Hart Lane.
