Javi Fuego is one step away from lighting up RCDE Stadium.
On Saturday, RCD Espanyol announced that Fuego will become the Catalan club's seventh signing of the summer transfer window upon completing a medical, and will put pen to paper on a three-year contract after an agreement was reached with Valencia.
Fuego, a product of Sporting Gijon, rose to prominence at Rayo Vallecano and was subsequently signed by Valencia, where he spent the last three seasons and for whom he tallied more than 100 appearances.
Espanyol kicks off its 2016-17 La Liga adventure on Aug. 20 at Sevilla.
