Barcelona director: Montoya, Tello talks separate from Gomes deal

Barcelona's speedy duo of Martin Montoya and Cristian Tello could be making moves to Valencia this summer, but those talks have nothing to do with the two club's recent dealings over Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes, according to sporting director Robert Fernandez.

Reports in Spain had linked the two Barcelona players as possible assets in order to bring Gomes to the Blaugrana, but the eventual €35-million move materialised without a hint of Montoya and Tello heading the other way, which Fernandez says is by design.

"Andre Gomes move has nothing to do with any possible move of a Barca player to Valencia," Fernandez said, according to ESPN FC. "There is nothing done yet. We are talking about two Barca players, who have offers from many teams.

Montoya, a right full-back, and Tello, a winger, are both graduates of La Masia and spent the last few seasons in and out of the first team, loaned out across the continent after failing to secure permanent roles under Luis Enrique.

"Montoya did well at Inter (Milan) and (Real) Betis last year, and Tello the same at Porto and Fiorentina. But we must wait and see what the decision is over the future. But any move to Valencia would have nothing to do with the Andre transfer."
