Dani Alves joins Juventus on free transfer
Juventus made its second high-profile signing of the summer Monday, confirming that marauding Brazilian full-back Dani Alves joined the club on a free transfer.
Alves, 33, signed a two-year contract with the reigning Italian champion, thus bringing his trophy-laden spell with Barcelona to an end. The deal also includes an option for a third season.
Juventus extolled the virtues of the eccentric Brazilian in a lengthy statement, detailing his past history of success, and his reputation as one of the finest attacking right-backs in Europe.
"The unrelenting success and remarkable consistency of the second most decorated player in UEFA competition history has seen the Brazilian deservedly be considered among the greatest wing-backs of his generation," read part of the statement.
"Having played a key role in one of the most trophy-laden spells of any club over the course of the game's existence, including a history-making pair of domestic and European trebles at Barcelona, Alves' transfer to Juventus marks the arrival of a natural-born winner and a true master of his trade."
At the Juventus Stadium, Alves will join a talented crop of full-backs already in the squad, as the Bianconeri boast the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Patrice Evra, and Alex Sandro.
The move gives manager Massimiliano Allegri four enticing options, with the Brazilian duo offering the bench boss two supremely talented attacking outlets that could wreak havoc going forward.
