Morata vows to fight for place at Real Madrid

After coming through the ranks at Real Madrid and moving on to find success with Juventus, forward Alvaro Morata feels he has "nothing to prove" upon his return to Los Blancos.

Morata, who's registered three goals with Spain at Euro 2016, is expected to return to the fold at the Santiago Bernabeu after Real activated the buy-back clause in its agreement with the Italian champions.

While there's still a chance the Spanish side could sell Morata before the Liga season kicks off in August, the 23-year-old is confident his skills will put the heat on Karim Benzema for the starting role up front under manager Zinedine Zidane.

"I've got nothing to prove," Morata admitted to Spanish television network Cuatro, as translated by ESPNFC. "I'm not a Castilla (Real Madrid's second team) player anymore. Madrid will decide if I am able or not. If not, I'll have to take another decision.

"All I want is to be just another member of the squad and fight for a place in the side. My only intention is to be happy and be in a place where I feel wanted."

Morata enjoyed success during his two-year spell in Italy where he developed into the Juve's preferred option in attack and helped the team capture a pair of Serie A titles.

His regular involvement last season is a feature Morata would like to see continue in Madrid, otherwise a move elsewhere could be on the horizon.

"I'm a Real Madrid player and that's all I can say," said when asked about rumoured interest from English teams. "I'd love to continue at Real Madrid, but I want to feel like I am important and battle to win a place."
