Lewandowski has held talks with Real Madrid, confirms agent

The rumours linking Robert Lewandowski with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu continue to persist, and the striker's agent is only fanning that flame.

The prolific Bayern Munich striker, who scored 30 league goals this season in helping the Bavarian side capture a fourth consecutive Bundesliga crown, has been the subject of transfer speculation for months, with Real Madrid said to be interested in procuring his services after he was unable to sign a contract extension with Bayern in April.

Though his deal runs through 2019, the Polish star's agent, Cezary Kucharski, confirmed that Madrid has inquired about a move.

"Real Madrid contacted us a few weeks ago, we listened to everything they said. It’s a big and exciting club," Kucharski told the German news magazine Spiegel, via the Guardian. "We have informed FC Bayern that we’ve held talks with Madrid."

Lewandowski, in the midst of preparations for Euro 2016, added the following: "Contracts are not a holy relic in football. You can like this attitude or not but it’s the truth. Sometimes you have to think about if it is meaningful to try out a new impulse."

The angular attacker joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, and having won everything on offer in Germany, could be open to a lucrative switch to Spain - if, of course, Los Blancos cough up what would be an enormous transfer fee.

One suspects Madrid would also have to ship incumbent striker Karim Benzema elsewhere prior to making any move for Lewandowski.
