Vermaelen denies seeking Barcelona exit

Barcelona's rarely seen defender Thomas Vermaelen says he's not looking to leave the Camp Nou just yet despite reports he could return to the Premier League with Liverpool.

"It's not that I want to leave Barcelona but the last few weeks and months have been a bit disappointing because I haven't been getting a lot of playing time," Vermaelen told Sky Sports. "It's not that I'm thinking about leaving at the moment. I'm just focused on my national team."

Vermaelen failed to establish himself as an option at the Catalan outfit in his two seasons in Spain, making just 20 appearances last season for the Blaugrana.

While that's still significantly more than the single appearance he made in 2014-15, Mundo Deportivo's Fernando Polo reported Monday that Liverpool is interested and waiting on the Belgian defender's decision.
