MADRID - Malaga coach Javier Gracia Carlos will not continue in charge of the Andalusians next season despite two impressive campaigns in charge, the club announced on Tuesday.

"Javier Gracia Carlos will not continue next season at Malaga and leaves the club after two seasons in charge of the first team," Malaga said in a statement.

Gracia led cash-strapped Malaga to eighth this season and a respectable ninth last season, including a memorable 1-0 win away at Barcelona.

Despite being linked with a move to the English Premier League, Spanish sports daily Marca reported Gracia's next move will be to Russian side Rubin Kazan where he could sign a four-year deal worth €12 million ($13.5 million).

The decision to leave the club comes just a few months after Gracia Carlos signed a contract extension.

"Javier Gracia Carlos and Malaga CF have developed a method of work over the last two seasons in the first division, consolidating him as one of the most sought-after coaches of the moment," the club wrote in a statement on its official website.

"For this reason, last March, Malaga Club de Futbol reached an agreement with the coach to sign his renewal contract for the next three seasons. A relationship that was interrupted today following the coach's decision to leave the club and not continue with the project."
