Report: Nicolas Gaitan's transfer to Atletico Madrid is 'done deal'
Nicolas Gaitan will reportedly be crossing the Iberian Peninsula.
On Monday, Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sport and the Guardian reported that Gaitan's transfer to Atletico Madrid is a "done deal," as the Argentinian, who joined Benfica from Boca Juniors in 2010, will join Atleti following Saturday's Champions League final.
Romano's report comes three days after Gaitan was called up to Argentina's national team for the Copa America Centenario, named to a squad that boasts firepower like no other in South America. He was among six forwards that Gerardo Martino listed in a 23-man unit, including Angel Di Maria, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Gonzalo Higuain.

Gaitan was Benfica's YouTube star last season as the club fought its way to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. There, Rui Vitoria's side was finally undone by the behemoth that is Bayern Munich. He has been linked with a move to Manchester United for what feels like an eternity, but, if Romano's report is accurate, then the Red Devils are missing out on a player who, simply put, is decisive on the pitch.
