Sevilla's Coke named Europa League final Man of the Match
Who else could it have been but Sevilla's captain and two-goal hero?
After scoring a second-half brace to lift Sevilla to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday, Coke was named the Europa League final Man of the Match.
While Sevilla was thoroughly outplayed in the first half before its stunning turnaround, Coke was class from kickoff until the final whistle, winning each and every take-on in addition to scoring two goals and coming within distance of a hat trick.
Entering the final, Coke hadn't scored once throughout Sevilla's Europa League adventure. He'd just completed a La Liga season in which he tallied one goal. Yet against Liverpool, the product of Rayo Vallecano found the back of the net twice in a six-minute span, reminding Europe of his capabilities in front of goal.
Coke is the third Spanish player to score a brace in a Europa League final or UEFA Cup final after Javi Moreno and Sebastian Losada, and there wasn't anybody more deserving of hoisting the trophy at St. Jakob-Park on Wednesday.
