Ivan Rakitic insists something was lost in the translation.

On Saturday, Tportal published a conversation with Rakitic that, according to the Croatian midfielder's Twitter account, was mistranslated. AS' version of the interview, which was translated from Croatian to Spanish, claimed he said: "I'd like Real Madrid to win the Champions League because of Luka Modric, as that would boost our national team in the Euro Cup."

Of course, given that Rakitic is employed by Barcelona, Real Madrid's eternal rival, it took almost no time for the quote to make the rounds, and the product of FC Basel was quick to deny that he ever expressed the sentiment for Los Blancos once word got back to him.

Croatia's national team is in Group D at Euro 2016, alongside Spain, Czech Republic, and Turkey.
