Valencia acquires Gago from Real Madrid

Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Valencia acquired midfielder Fernando Gago from Real Madrid on Friday and signed him to a four-year deal.

The 26-year-old Argentinean left Boca Juniors for Real in 2007 and remained at the club, with the exception of a loan to Roma last season, until his transfer this summer.

Capped 38 times for Argentina, Gago joins Valencia for a fee reported to be in the region $11 million. He played 92 times for Real, and played 30 times while on loan with Roma last season.

Valencia ended third in La Liga last season, and will compete in the Champions League this year.
