Mourinho signs two-year extension at Real Madrid
Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho signed a two- year contract extension Tuesday that will keep him at the Spanish club through the 2015-16 season.
The 49-year-old Mourinho joined Real in May 2010 on a four-year contract, and has led the squad to the Champions League semifinals in each of his first two seasons in charge and to the La Liga crown this season.
Mourinho has won the Champions League with FC Porto and Inter Milan, and will try to become the first manager to win the European Cup with three different clubs. Real has won a record nine European titles in its history.
"The tenth is coming next year or the next," Real star Cristiano Ronaldo said. "People always focus on the Champions League because it is one of the best tournaments.
"I'm sure we'll win it eventually."
Real Madrid also won the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge, and the Portuguese manager helped the club post a record 100 points in La Liga when it won the title this season.
Mourinho is the first coach to win league titles in England, Italy and Spain.
