A's P Braden leaves game

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden left Thursday's start against the New York Yankees with cramping on a hot day at Yankee Stadium.

Braden exited in the sixth inning with Oakland trailing, 1-0. Temperatures on the field were recorded in excess of 100 degrees.

The Yankees eventually won the game, 5-0, with Braden falling to 9-10 on the year. He pitched well through five-plus innings, charged with only two hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts. Braden's earned run average for the 2010 season dropped to 3.23 with the outing in his 24th start.

The 26-year-old, who pitched a perfect game earlier in the season, was on the disabled list in July due to tightness in his pitching elbow.
