RSL, TFC share points at BMO
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC battled to a scoreless draw in Major League Soccer action at BMO Field on Saturday night.
With the draw, RSL (11-4-7) is unbeaten in six league fixtures, while improving to 3-4-4 on the road.
Toronto (7-8-5), on the other hand, dropped crucial points on it home pitch as it struggles to get itself into the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. TFC is currently third in the Eastern table, but out of the top eight in the league.
TFC midfielder Dan Gargan almost gave his side a goal in the opening minutes when he headed a ball that was deflected to the top of the area on goal. RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando did well to knock the ball over the crossbar.
RSL's best chance came when goalkeeper Stephan Frei made a diving save on a Javier Morales header late in the second half after forward Fabian Espindola crossed from the left corner.
RSL also hit the post twice in the final 10 minutes as the two teams settled for a share of the points.
Toronto will be gunning for the full points at FC Dallas on Saturday, while RSL hosts Red Bull New York later the same night in its next MLS fixture.
