Damon: If the Yankees call, I would play

According to an interview with the New York Daily News, former New York Yankees outfielder Johnny Damon would be interested in rejoining the team if he was approached by GM Brian Cashman.

The 39-year-old Damon has yet to officially retire and feels that he could be an asset to a Yankee ballclub that will be missing Curtis Granderson for the next ten weeks (fractured forearm).

"I don't expect to hear from them," Damon told the Daily News by telephone. "If they call, if they want me, I'll go. They are one of the only teams I would do that for. We'll see what happens in the future. If someone calls, I could definitely get ready."

In four seasons with the pinstripes, Damon hit .285 with 77 home runs, 296 RBI and had a .821 OPS.
