Report: IOC to drop wrestling from 2020 games

The International Olympic Committee decided to remove wrestling from the 2020 games, according to multiple reports. The move was made in order to retain modern pentathlon.
Wrestlingt, which has been part of the Olympic games since 1896, saw two Canadians earn medals in the London games.
Carol Huynh won a bronze in the 48-kg event, while Tonya Verbeek won a silver in the 55-kg event.
From IOC spokesman Mark Adams:
“This is a process of renewing and renovating the program for the Olympics,”. “In the view of the executive board, this was the best program for the Olympic Games in 2020. It’s not a case of what’s wrong with wrestling, it is what’s right with the 25 core sports.”
Eight sports will have the chance to apply for inclusion in the 2020 games which include baseball and softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu, along with wrestling.
