Report: Ramirez hoping to continue MLB career
Free agent outfielder Manny Ramirez is hoping to continue his MLB career, according to his agent Barry Praver via Jon Morosi on twitter.
Ramirez, who hit four home runs during the Dominican Winter league playoffs this year, signed a minor league deal with the Athletics last season, but was released by the team in June after hitting .302 with 14 RBI for Triple-A Sacramento.
In his career, Ramirez has hit 555 home runs.
His last appearance in the majors came back on April 7th of 2011 for the Tampa Bay Rays. That season was cut short after the slugger was issued a 100-game suspension for failing a second drug test. Ramirez also served a 50-game suspension in 2009 for failing a test.
