NHL owners and players are expected to meet Tuesday in New York, according to Aaron Ward.

Six owners and the same number of players are reportedly taking part in the meetings. No names of those taking part have been released.

The NHL lockout has lasted 78 days, with the two sides failing to reach a deal. Mediation, thought to be a positive in talks, failed to gain any momentum  last week, lasting only two days before the two sides broke off.

Both Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr will not attend.
