Bayern loses Badstuber to torn ACL
Munich, Germany (Sports Network) - Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber suffered a torn ACL on Saturday that could end his season, the club confirmed Sunday.
The 23-year-old Badstuber suffered the injury with 10 minutes remaining in the first half of a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. He will be out five to six months, and the Bundesliga and Champions League end in May.
"It's a bitter blow," Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said.
A starter for both Bayern and Germany, Badstuber has developed into one of the top defenders in the country since earning a regular role in the 2010 season.
Badstuber can play in central defense as well as at left back, and has played 30 times already for Germany and over 100 times for Bayern.
