VIDEO: Knicks owner James Dolan's band performs on Good Day NY

6:27 PM

Why do we keep updating you about what James Dolan's band, JD & The Straight Shot, are doing? Because it's funny to us, and we know you'll click it. It's online rubbernecking, basically.

Anyway, Dolan, the de facto owner of the New York Knicks and CEO of Cablevision Systems Corporation and executive chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company, uses his appreciable power to his advantage, and we can't blame him. On Saturday, his band opened for The Eagles at MSG, and while, sadly, there's no video we can find, luckily there's this.

On Tuesday, JD & The Straight Shot also performed on Good Day New York on a local Fox station. For that, thankfully, there is video:

Considering Dolan's reach, don't be surprised if another unwanted album shows up in your iTunes sometime soon.

Knicks owner Dolan to open for the Eagles at MSG

Sept 12, 5:08 PM

Being the executive chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company sure has its privileges.

On Saturday night, New York Knicks owner James Dolan will perform at MSG with his band JD & The Straight Shot, opening for the Eagles.

"The artist in me needs to be free," Dolan told the New York Post about the lyrics he writes for his "bluesy folk" band. "I am not the chairman, CEO, etc., standing up there on that stage. I am the singer-songwriter."

JD & The Straight Shot have opened for the Eagles before, as they have a relationship with guitarist Joe Walsh, who produces for Dolan's group. If you want to see what you'd be in for Saturday night, check out one of their live performances below:

Report: James Dolan handed out CDs of his band to free agents in 2010

Mar 19, 8:29 PM

If a report from Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski is correct, we may know the reason why LeBron James joined the Miami Heat over the New York Knicks back in 2010.

According to Wojnarowski, when the Knicks were chasing free agents in the summer of 2010, owner James Dolan sat in on the meetings and "passed out copies of his CD" as a parting gift on the way out of the room.

Now, Dolan is isn't exactly known for being the greatest human being and is something of an awkward character. His insistence on being involved in every team decision over the years is proof enough of that. But it's hard to see how anyone could possibly think that promoting their band while meeting with a free agent is a good idea.

Then again, it probably shouldn't come as any surprise given Dolan's arrogance. His band "JD and the Straight Shot" paid for the opportunity to open up for "The Eagles" on tour and they even have a track entitled "Fix the Knicks."

If you've never heard of "JD and the Straight Shot," here's a little sample:
